ANNIVERSARY

This month is my Three Year Anniversary here at Typepad.
I doubt that there are many other 71 year olds blogging on the net. If there are, I sure would like to know about it.
 

This photo was taken in January on my 71st birthday.

I decided to do something special for myself in celebration of my Typepad Anniversary. I hadn't liked my office space for a while now and decided to do a little face lift. I started with the window treatments.

 

The photo above is the "before" picture. It's difficult to make out, but there are dark printed, cotton drapes on either side of the window. I should've used the flash.  A very unattractive window. You get the gist. I started by taring down these dreary coverings...

 

to expose the not so attractive window. I had already purchased this cheerful toile fabric for new curtains.

 

Now I was undecided between making new drapes and keeping the lace lower panel, or making cafe curtains. Which one do you think would look better in this tall narrow window?

 

 

Well, after much deliberation, I decided on these...

 

The room already looks much brighter and happier just having new curtains. Now I still need to replace that slatted window blind (raised up in the pic) with a nice new paper blind. I also want to get some nice pictures to hang on the walls. Maybe I'll go through my photo files and print up some garden pics and frame them. We'll see.

Meanwhile I'm inspired to do more in the near future. Hope you've enjoyed the mini tour.

I LOVE the new curtains! I'm in a dilemma myself as to what kind I'd like to make for my kitchen. I must also say that you are a very beautiful 71 year old and I'd be so happy to reach that age in good health and big smiles!

Thanks Alicia for the kind words. I usually go to Fabric Temtations in Arcata but this time I went to Jo Ann's Fabric and Craft Store in Eureka and found the nice toile. I'll go there again as they have a HUGE inventory of amazing choices in fabrics. I also want to check out their craft items more next time. It'll be interesting to see what you do for your kitchen. You have some great windows to work with, as I've seen on your blog. Good luck!
