I've been away from my blog for a few weeks now. Not feeling very inspired, until this afternoon. I was sitting at the table talking on the phone, gazing out the slider window. And there he was....this handsome, young buck.
He stayed around for about half an hour or more, munching at the thimble berry bush.
He nibbled at the berries and greens until he was so full....he had to
lie down and take a siesta! He laid in the thicket behind the bushes for about 15 minutes. And then much to my surprise! he got up and had a second course!
Oh dear...he's eying my planter box of flowers....and....
he's headed right for it.
Isn't he beautiful?
I know deer do not eat cosmos. So this part of the garden box is safe. But...
they do like certain types of geraniums. So I had to step out to the deck and kindly ask him to please not eat my flowers. He obliged and headed off to the back of our property towards the back fence.....
and every few steps, he would look over his shoulders to see if I was keeping my distance.
He takes one last look at those delicious geraniums.....
then goes on his way......
pausing one more time for a last minute snack at the back garden shrubbery. And then he jumped the hedge and went off into the woods.
I love living here in all of this nature and wildlife. Do you have any nature stories to share? You can leave them in the comment section if you like. Otherwise, thanks for stopping by and do come again.

Hopefully he won't come back when you are not home and eat all the goodies he didn't get to on this visit!

:) Hi Alicia,
So far..I'm surprised that he hasn't been back! Maybe he took me seriously. :)
We shall see. The only thing in that planter box that he'd like is the geraniums. Oh yes, and the strawberries. Poor berry plants. They just get going and get nibbled to the ground every year. I haven't moved them since they are the spreading type of strawberry plants. They send out runners. I need to get some netting for them.
Let's just hope the buck doesn't return till after autumn. hmmmm.
